Please explain how Spade Club is able to run a for money poker site even though gambling is illegal in the US. Is Spade Club considered some type of lottery?

Asked by hookturn on May 04.

Why isn't SpadeClub considered gambling?

Gambling is risking money for a chance at winning a prize or something else of value. SpadeClub is not a gambling site -- you are never asked to place a bet or risk money on a poker tournament or any game. While you'll have loads of opportunities to win big money in high-paying tournaments, there is never a buy-in or deposit required. Exclusive Members pay a monthly membership fee to take part in our extensive list of services, community features, and convenient access to all of our tournaments. SpadeClub allows all entrants an equal opportunity to succeed in SpadeClub's tournaments and entry requirements are based on sweepstakes laws.

However, some States have sweepstakes laws that do not allow their residents to participate in sweepstakes such as SpadeClub. Unfortunately, we are not allowed to have residents from those States participate in many of our tournaments, and they are unable to become Exclusive Members. A list of those States may be viewed here: Excluded States. Nevertheless, even for residents of the excluded States, SpadeClub offers lots of free "play money" poker games, as well as other tournaments for which they are eligible!

Kenny, My profile and SPOY show different final table counts. Why are they different? I thought a player only added a final table to the badge count in money games? Thank you. Acroyer2000

SPOY in for 2009 only and your profile is lifetime.

What is the rule for split when each player has one of the cards in their hand? On this and all other sites the split is never the same. For example I had J,7,he had 10,7 and a 7 and two 4s on the table the pot was split. Later in the game same thing and the pot went to the J. Shouldn't high kicker win all the time? Airdoc08

Asked by Airdoc08 on Mar 03.

What was the rest of the board other then 7 4 4? If there is a card bigger then your jack on the board then that card will play and it will be a chopped pot. The best five cards always play. In hold'em, unlike Omaha, you do not need to play both of your hole cards. You can play just one from your hand and 4 from the board, or two from your hand and 3 from the board, or all 5 from the board, it doesn't matter as the best 5 card hand will always win.

Lets say your hole cards are J 7 and the board reads 7 4 4 A 5. In this case the best five card hand will be 7 7 4 4 A so your jack kicker will not play because it is not the best possible hand you can make. Your opponent with 10 7 will be in the same boat as you with 7 7 4 4 A, his kicker will not play either, you will both have the same hand, and split the pot.

Hey Kenny, I am a new exclusive member of your community and I play a lot of Limit games: H.O.R.S.E. Pineapple etc. I was wondering if there are going to be new games added on the site. If so that would be great. Thanks for reading...L

Why won't SpadeClub adopt an English only policy? I was in a game and 2 people were chatting in Spanish. I believe collusion was taking place, however since I do not speak Spanish I believe the table was being cheated. I emailed support and their answer was SC doe not want to exclude anyone. That is a bunch of garbage. Almost every other card room and almost every casino has an English only policy. Not having one is going to cost this site members.

Good point I'll see what I can do, thank you for bringing this to my attention although it is harder to monitor in a chat box than it is at a live game.

I believe you may use a different name for your billing information but you must submit a valid credit card or debit card with the Visa/MasterCard/Amex etc logo on it. Please visit https://www.spadeclub.com/account/upgrade-account for details. The ads will disappear once you become an Exclusive member.

I have an iMac and would like to join SpadeClub. Do you know when the Mac OS system will be support? Thanks Dave...

Asked by tatsa on Nov 24.

Unfortunately, we will not be offering a Mac version for a while. I believe you can use a virtual PC program on your mac and use SpadeClub that way. Please write into support if you have any questions on this.

Are there any pros (aside from yourself) that play on SpadeClub?

Asked by scubasteve79 on Nov 24.

I'm sure there are several, especially considering the Bellagio $25,000 seat and the WSOP seats but I don't know of any by name.

iam24out posted the following statement on my profile page: "u are hands down the biggest "DONK" ON THIS SITE can u say "HEEHAW" !!!!!!!!!!" This comment was uncalled for and there should be action taken. I don't recall playing with him so maybe I got lucky against superior hand. Bottom line, this week end, I've been called donk, moron, rookie. I play for fun. I don't get bad beat take chips from me with lesser cards. It's poker.

Asked by Hayloft on Nov 24.

I agree you should play anyway you like without being called any names. You can delete any comments on your profile and I'll send this player a email warning him. Thank you for bring this to my attention and please email support if it happens again.
