CardPlayer asked Rothenberger some questions about SpadeClub and her recent win:
Card Player: First off, can you tell us a little about yourself?
Tiffany “tiffjoy” Rothenberger: I’m 27 years old and just started playing poker like six months ago. This is definitely a shock to me, because I really just know basic strategy, and I am still learning.
CP: What got you interested in SpadeClub?
TR: My boyfriend got me interested in poker when we visited the Riverboat Casino. He recommended SpadeClub to me to learn the game better while not having to spend a lot of money.
CP: What was your first poker experience like?
TR: Not very fun, because I lost a lot of money, but this more than makes up for it.
CP: What was the hardest lesson you had to learn while playing poker?
TR: Patience, and learning not to put my stack at risk in bad situations. Trying to risk the minimum amount to look at more hands.
CP: What do you think sets great players apart from merely good players?
TR: I really don’t know; I am still a beginner, but I would have to say the more hands you play, the more you learn, the better you get. You have to be lucky!
CP: What is your next goal on SpadeClub? How do you plan to accomplish it?
TR: Maybe to start playing in those Bellagio [Championship Series] tournaments and getting lucky!
CP: Do you think SpadeClub is a good learning ground for people who are looking to start playing?
TR: Absolutely!
CP: Do you have any general advice to share with our readers about succeeding at SpadeClub?
TR: To be friendly and nice to everybody, because they are here to learn and have fun, just like I am.
CP: Anything else you would like to add?
TR: Yes, SpadeClub is a great site to play and learn on. I now know that if I can win, anybody can win. I would like to give a shout out to my favorite poker player of all time, Daniel Negreanu, who I love to watch on TV. Winner, winner, chicken dinner!
