~~I feel that if you have pocket AA's and you arn't afraid to play them, they will prolly hold up. If you are afraid to play them, how can they possibly hold up without any support from you, not begging them to, but believing they will.
The only time pocket AA's lasted for me through a game was when I was very happy and confident they would!
You gotta put something positive behind your play, no matter what you play, but with pocket AA's you are already one step ahead. :) good blog!

havent thought much about it bt to make a quik comment, i think if the good cards held up the most tightest players would win most of the time,cause any day a donkey can get lucky and win 1,

Pocket A's for me play better when played aggresive. I always seem to lose with them when I soft play em. Brings all kinds of scinerios and luck into play.

yes I agree with jslo, I only slowplay AA if I flop a set. Even then u can get burned. Just don't think u have a guarantee and no one can beat them. Bet aggressively pre flop and be ready to fold when 3 suited cards come out and ur opponent bets them.

I have lost more slow playing pocket Aces than not. That is probally why most books recommend that you do not. You still have a 15% probability of being busted.

If rockets held up every time, you likely wouldn't win a tournament. You simply wouldn't get them enough. 7 times in 4 hours is pretty good, but he obviously knew how to play them, and most people don't.
The other thing is playing the other hands correctly and most people can't do that either.
It takes a great player AND a little luck to do what he did.

2 - I think he embellished a bit. And, over the course of several hours you might see it more that once. But to get 7 times in 4 hours is on the high-end of probability charts, but nothing is impossible. It even less probably that they held up all 7 times; unless he was playing against amateurs and that is why is won this $5,000 event.

1 - The probability of being dealt pocket Aces is 0.45% or odds of 220 to 1. I think that basically means that ever 221 hands you will might get pocket Aces once. If you assume that 100 hands are dealt per hour, you might get them 4 times in four hours. But if only 75 hands per hour were dealt the first two hours, then less. Too bad we can’t see his hand history for this tournament to verify his unbelievable feats.

There are two basic ways to play pocket Aces: slow or aggressive. And, unless he is writing down each hand, how many players would remember that they got pocket Aces seven or more times in 4 hours or more? What does the “more” mean, 20 more times or less? Too funny! It is unfortunate that his luck did not hold up in the WSOP event where he was knocked out on day one. I guess he used up all those pocket Aces in the $5,000.

TheSyphon, it is easy to play hands that you made up in your head well.
>
I am sorry, but based on comments from this guy, I don't believe nothing out of his over inflated ego.
>
But would love to see the hand history. Then we would know for sure, the reality.

GLW - "Made up in your head"? I play way to many hands to need to make things up. When I comment or blog, I speak from my collective poker experience.
Explain how to play AA aggresive or slow, I'd love to read your ideas. As a mater of fact, start a new blog. Oh and don't read my explaination, that's cheating.

TheSyphon, you missed it, we were talking about fugetaboutit, not you. You said in your comment, “7 times in 4 hours is pretty good, but he obviously knew how to play them, and most people don’t.”
>
I said, he made it up in his head and won each time. Pocket Aces 7 times or more and won each time with them; quite a yarn.
>
Not that you made it up.
>
I also said that is was highly unusual and stand by that.

Based on the number of hands he plays each day, Chily Rooster probably see 7 pairs of pocket Aces per day? That would be about 221 X 7 or 1,547 hands per day. And, I am betting he plays that many hands a day or more.
>
Odds of be dealt pocket Aces is 220 to 1

Did the Monthly Fug placed 2nd in have the same prize money and SPOY points as 1st place? He indicates in the interview that they agreed to both go all-in and not compete; otherwise, he obviously would have won 1st place.

However remote, why would anyone say they got rockets 7 times and won every time? Where would that come from? It can be verified easily and he knew it, so why make it up?
I could see maybe exagerating to make the point that good cards kept coming and he won all of his tight races, but to say he's a liar is a bit extreme. So what if they held up 5 or 6 times? The point is still valid.
I like the fact that he credits the cards and not himself primarily, which we know he's got skills.

~~~How about this...why don't we just be happy for the guy, and hope to do as good as he has, whether he gets 1 or 15 hands with pocket aces......
~~Am I sensing a little jealousy GWL?? :)
Happy wins!! Happy attracts winning cards...that is my conclusion..peace out ;)
TheSyphon, please tell me how it can be verified? Common sense tells you that no one remembers that they had 7 hands or more with pocket Aces and that they won each time over a 4 hour period. Get real.
>
Spade Club does not keep hand histories, so that amazing unbelievable feat cannot be verified.
>
I usually get pocket aces once per game - and I LOSE w/ them 9 out of 10 times whether I go all in preflop or raise big & keep raising as someone always calls and even if they have nothing, they will get 2 small pairs, a straight or a flush by the river. I should just fold em - but I can't.
