OLD SCHOOL
By AceOfShadesJul 28, 08 09:54 PM

my musings demonstrating the lack of "old school" behaviour.
1. the youngsters that think smack talk is OK
how many times do we have to witness the verbal abuse if someone busts out on their shift ? it's not sportman-like and it's disgusting.
old school says a simple "gg" when someone leaves the table and quiet thereafter.
2. multiple all-in's strong-arming each other only to find that the remaining wrist wrestler didn't have a hand good enough to beat the all-in ?
old school checks down the pot amongst the players involved. why ? because if your hand was good enough to call the all-in, it was theoretically good enough to beat anyone else's hand that might have also chosen to get involved (though typically they wouldnt have done so in the first place).
aybody else "old school" still out there ?

heck yeah!!! I always try to check down and some young gun bets big I call 50 % of the time but when I do fold I often could have won and the idiot doesn't so the all in survives....no tournament savvy !!Although if the allin is small and I have the Nuts I will bet it...GOOD LUCK ....PUDS AKA CONNIE
I agree with number 1. As to number 2, it depends on whether you actually believe that you can beat the all-ins and/or take a significant side pot. Bluffing into a dry pot is a rather stupid thing to do as the idea in a tournament is to knock out players in order to advance. Just my opinion.

ace i gotta argue about this crap of checking down all-in. if I'm last to act, first goes all-in one caller and then me. My best shot may be to beat the caller. I don't see the logic in checking down and letting the caller draw out on me. I agree there are times it would be more profitable to check it down but nothing in poker is absolute.
