BOUNTIES ARE OVER-RATED
By AceOfShadesAug 11, 08 07:49 PM

which player should you be most fearful of facing ---
AceOfShades : 82 bounties, or MasterDan : 1690 bounties ?
More bounties. More danger, right. Fear MasterDan !
But wait. As of this writing, I have 82 bounties in 4175 hands played, or 1 bounty in every 50.4 hands. MasterDan has 1690 bounties in 85,460 hands played, or 1 bounty in every 50.5 hands. SO, you should be more afraid of the AceOfShades than MasterDan !
I f Dan is reading this, I know he's laughing, because he's a great player and doesn't worry a bit about any of this stuff.
But, I would like to see SpadeClub put a RATIO meter on these ratings to help everyone get a real grip on raw numbers. My gut says ratios under 75:1 are aggressive, pots at all cost players.
What does everybody else think ?

There is at present no reliable way to determine stats because a lot of players don't play in many cash games, and only cash games count toward final table and first place stats, while bounties come from both cash games and non cash games. It is a mistake to assume that a player with a low count in final tables and first place finishes is not to be considered strong. What I would like to see is for SC to combine all play at the site and give decimal standings for all players according to: final
754.6 Actually I looked at some players with high percentages that never won anything, yes they take the out but they also take themselves out too. Other players with high bounites have much success and wins. It seems that it is more important to look at all the stats before deciding how dangerious someone is. The players listed above this post I respect on the tables because it is calculated and done with great skill. But when I see no wins I see a loose player with an agressive temperment who
Bounties don't mean that much. I rather see a stat on how often a player is 80% or better to win and end up losing. That way you would know ( I mean )we would know how unlucky the player is and call them with any two cards. By the way I collect a bounty ever 234 hands
in regard to my last statement; let me clarify. "... My gut says ratios under 75:1 are aggressive, pots at all cost players. .." meaning that the pot is prized, more so than the bounty, but 75:1 is the low/starting end of the "agressive" threshhold.
and i DO fear the ChillyRooster. I never know what suck-out is coming next. LOL.
Well they are certainly waiting for good starting hands, but you are also right the carelessness of the bet, careless I say no real substance there at all lmao.
28.23 , think your right on the 75 to 1 but I fear MasterDan on final tables and 1st places, means he can finsh the job! I dont give bounties to much credit.
continued.......you got to look at the numbers in all aspects. Like how many final tables/wins does this player have.....and so forth.
I hope this makes sence to you. Becuase I am able to pregame judge my oppent by taking all these stats into consideration when used together.
Best of luck shades, see you on the felts.
I use bountys to look at a players playing style.Just because a player has alot of bounties dosnt make him any less of an oppent, I myself have a ratio of 1 bountie for every 36 hands played. And I am by know means a donk.It simply states that I am able to draw my oppents all in when I know I have the best hand.
But... you can also look at bounties to hands played x there final tables perfect example would be
Bayraider:17k hansd played 1100 bounties 1 final table=Donk
you got to look at......
While I do enjoy monitoring by bounties, I realize it's foolish to play this game with the specific purpose of accumulating them. There is a very distinct difference between "collecting bounties" and playing to knock other players out of a tournament to improve your finishing position. One is strategic and other is for ego.
30.85 cant help getting involved in a lot of pots I have no patience, even i try hard to only play A A .-)
34,1 but I don't neccessarily believe that the smaller number here is the desired result, BECAUSE I think a higher bounty rate indicates a little bit too much aggression. Not really sure about this and would like to hear others on the subject. Good blog
