Finally!

After playing on SC for nearly a year, I finally won a first place in a $$$ game. I'd win firsts in the points games and wonder why not the $$$ games. With SC's popularity as it is now, that accomplishment is much harder to achieve now, with all the new donks on the site, it's harder than ever to make it in the $$$. Last year when I started playing, a tournament with less than 100 people was great, and the game play was great. You didn't have the "all-in" every hand guys and a raise actually got most of the table to fold.

So, onto my win... it was a late night game in which only $10 was the prize pool, but I figured lets give it a go. When we were down to about 24 players I had pocket 8's and in mid position a chip leader raised a huge amount. I figured either I fold or push due to me not having enough chips to make him fold after the flop. So I push, the guy called with AK off, the flop come J-8-J! Flop a boat so "Ship-It!"

After that nice double up which moved me into second place we get to final table where I'm now in 4th place. Skipping ahead to the moment that guaranteed me 1st or 2nd was when I had KQ off and on the flop I hit my K but "urchips4me" bets out the min bet of 10k, I smooth call to see what he'll do on the turn, I didn't want to give my hand away yet. The turn is a Q, he bets the min again, that's when I felt enough's enough, I push and he thinks for a lil bit and calls with QJ of hearts. There were 2 hearts on the board from the flop and now he also had a pair of Q's. It was a huge call for him considering he was in 1st place at that time. The river was a blank and I took it down now leading everyone 3 to 1.

Heads up with "tasopop" almost ended in his favor. He had a lil over 24k and I had over 170k, easy win right? No. He would push, I'd call and he'd hit the board! Wasn't long till he caught up and then had me out chipped. Then when everything seemed hopeless I got K6 off in the BB, he pushed me all in and I figured "ok, heads up I have a K, lets go!" flopped a K, turned a K, and rivered a K!!! SWEET!!

Regained my lead a hand later, then took him out one or two hands after that. It was almost disaster for me, but I kept with it instead of giving up and made my way back in jut a few hands.

NEVER GIVE UP!!!

This is why I predicted that the leaders on spoy last year won't be the leaders this year. I played for just 2 months last year and ended in the top 7.5%. I hope to do better this year, however the competition is getting tougher by the day. I am also shifting my cash games at pokerstars to play when I am not deep in a tourney at this site. Playing multi-tables at multi-sites is sometimes difficult, I am learning though.
