Kentucky Banning Online Poker

By CHIPPY27

I am all for the government trying to protect our rights as citizens, but when the government decided to tell you what you can and can't do in your on home is pathetic. Race tracks revenue is down over the year in Kentucky so what does the government say online poker and casinos are stealing their money. Come on give me a break!! So the state of Kentucky is making it illegal now to play online poker. They could have tried to regulate it and tax it but no lets just tell everyone you can't play poker online in your on home. I have wrote to everyone the Governor, congress, senate, state representive, blogging. It doesn't matter so long as I am not putting money in the government's pocket , they aren't listening. What's next I am not allowed to drive out of state to play poker at a casino that we don't have!!! OH WAIT A MINUTE Beshears Casino Legislation didn't pass. Would I even being having this conversation is Kentucky had Casinos so that Beshear had taxes and money being brought in to Kentucky by the casinos. I guess I will never know. I voted for him, not on the next election. I hope the PPA has some luck on Nov. 17

next we will have to ask the Government when we can wipe our rear ends....The Dirty Ratz....the casino's are so hard to win in that people have better chances to win and less out of pocket...No they all don't like that cause the public isn't paying for the Cocaine and Hookers ...In today's economomy people are hurting...Well sad to hear this in Kentucky I got good friends there and this is their lives to play online...Sheeee

The thing that is really gross about this particular case is the politician that is behind this received campaign money from the PPA.
If I was an poker player from Kentucky I would be extremely pissed off about this and most likely trying to do something about it ( move to Illinois? lol), luckily for me as a Canuck I have the freedom to play poker on virtually any poker site I wish :)

Illinois & Wisconsin have also banned most Internet gambling, including poker. It is not just the states that want Internet gambling banned; most of the Casinos do not want it. I was the Audit Manager at Hollywood Casino – Aurora, IL and determining how much was collected daily was labor intensive. It would be almost impossible to verify how much cash an internet casino collected or paid out daily because of the use of off-shore accounts. I don’t think it will happen in the US any time so

I'm lucky. I remember personal freedom. First drinking.Originally u were really drunk to blow DUI. Now, 1-2 glasses of wine with dinner will do it. Then smoking sections, then no smoking public places, Cal now no smoking anywhere. Now its fat. Just talking now, soon fingers will point, then maybe no health insurance or mandatory "fat camp". Now internet gambling, racetracks not making enough money in their poker rooms. Arghhh. Glad I'm old, I can still remember freedom.

Just remember, all rightous people, when you take away anothers freedom, your freedom will be gone next. How many of you thought that the drinking and smoking ban were great ideas? And lets not forget marajuana, but liquors okay because you drink that. 30-40 years ago I was warning about SS#s being used as identification. When instituted in 1930's it was promised to be a secret number. How secret now? People will believe anything is true without thinking it thru.

There are 5 main reasons internet gambling, specifically poker, will never be approved by most state and federal legislators:
>
1. To hard to regulate, control and verify how much was collected and paid out
>
2. Takes away from state lotteries
>
3. Local Casinos do not want it
>
4. Religious right thinks it is a sin, even though not banned by the Bible.
>
5. It is addictive to many and destroys families, i.e. many gamble money they should be spending on their families.
