question is fundamentally flauded-
the person you are playing is not yourself, you have no idea if the person your playing is richer beyond your imagination no matter what the buy in. But as the person you are playin is playing on SC, may never ever be a contender in a 500 buy in tourny in his entire life. you may even be playing a 14 year old playing on daddys account, this is the internet.

Are poker clubs helping us learn poker?
By ChromManAug 15, 08 04:33 PM

This is not in reference to SC, but poker clubs in general.
Last night I had 2 situations where I was trying to figure out what I was to learn from the hand.
Scenario One (Similar stacks)
I have A7 suited. 100/200. I raise to 600 and the BB calls. The flop is A74 rainbow. BB checks, I bet 1000, BB calls. Turn is 10. BB checks. I bet 3000 and BB calls. River is a J. BB checks and I decide to check. He turns over KQ and wins with a straight.
Scenario Two – different tourney. (I have ¾ the stack)
I have trips - he call 3 pot size bets and catches a wheel on the river
They have very low %’s to win. Would they act the same way if the there was $500 buy-in? I do not know? What do others think?

Both wild and legend nailed it! Adapt and survive. Yes there are players with more money than brains so don't expect to be safe from donk plays at any level. My body lost huge to a 94 flush draw in a 15-30 kill pot the other day. I have one friend who plays 50-100 plo and these players pay him well. Sometimes he pays them but who would you bet on? Live tourneys 60-100 buy in torneys play identically to these games so get used to it......

If you play in live tournaments the way you play on a freeroll site, you are in big trouble. Conversely, if you play on a freeroll site the way you play in a live tourney, you are also in big trouble. The differences are as large (at least) as limit differences, ie: the difference between 1-2 NLH and 10-20 NLH (I have never played any larger). Adjust accordingly and dodge them donks! By the way, I'm still working on the adjustment.
