What is the value in this play? He is only going to lose more chips if I call, as I'm not calling him with anything less than 7s. An ace or king did not come on the turn/river, but he cost himself and everyone else the chance to eliminate the all-in (with about 16 players left) and there was no postive expected value to his play.

I see it all the time. If its only the blinds, do you check it down or do you bet! Some people get pissed when u bet and some people dont. Some people say u check it down until u get to the final table but you have to get to final table first! If someones all in, does the blinds check it down or do they bet? We talked about this at the table the other night so I thought I would share it with everyone. Thanks for reading and thanks for your input! GL at the tables!

There is no reason to bet with an all-in, especially late in a tourney, unless you are sure you have the best hand when you bet and can build your stack. This is considered betting into a dry pot and has no value to you unless you have a considerable advanatage against the other player in the pot. I saw this last night, raised 4xBB with AK, flop Q104 rainbow and the other player bet huge with 77. What is the value of this play? He ended up losing to the all in, who held Q9 (cont.).
some people expect you to check it down when there's an all-in but this would be totally incorrect in some situations. if you've got a medium strength hand you really don't want to blindly check it down only to be beatten by the river. you may want to build a side pot if you feel all-in may have you beat but you could beat the other person in the pot. As usual this is all based on who is in and what they may or may not be holding. as i see it, every situation has it's own solution and if I feel
Nice post checkraise I have won like that too some idiot bluffed and I won. But at the casino ieast bay there is rule that u cannot agree to check it down in tournament so I believe if there has to be a rule there has to be some value
Sometimes I find it in my best interest to take out the competition with a bet in order to be head to head with the all-in. While I want to eliminate the competition I am also intending to build my own stack. So, it is a judgement call. I may check it or eliminate the competition depending on the hand I hold, the flop and what I think the all-in is holding. Like every hand we play it is a judgement call. It is my hand and I'm not all that concerned with how others think I should have played it.
In a nut shell if there is no side pot there is no reason to BLUFF. Because you win nothing if you cannot beat the all in. IF after the flop you can beat the all in you should protect your hand. Tournament poker is about elimination. Once in a game at a cash site, I would have been eliminated in 7th collecting $170 had someone not bluffed an empty pot. They bluffed, I won the hand with ace high and proceeded to take 1st for $1,772.00

well i follow this game play.... the first hands in a tourn is were the blinds are low so you can go for hands you woundnt later in the game ...this gives you an opertunity to try and build a nice stack so you don't get presured every hands you bet later in the tourn......if i don't have a stack at lest 5k at the 100 blinds then i play tight , the smaller the stack the tighter i play.......with a little luck i normaly catch a good hand befor the 300 blinds.......about 75 to 80% of the time if
