WHAT ARE THE ODDS ON THIS???

By DeadwooDemon

First, I don't have the time to play here much so if I actually make a FT and drop my SPOY rank in half, it doesn't take long for it to double back up and when I do play, I consistantly get knocked out with a rediculous bad beat - PRIME EXAMPLE:

IN LAST NIGHT'S 1ST 500,WITH 1578 PLAYERS, 90 MINUTES INTO GAME, 370 REMAINING I'M 70TH PLACE. MY HOLE CARDS ARE A5, FLOP IS 5A5, ALL IN WITH OVER 17K AGAINST K5. MY FH IS A SURE WINNER, RIGHT? THE ONLY POSSIBLE WAY TO LOSE THAT HAND - TURN K, RIVER K. NOW WHAT ARE THE REAL ODDS OF THAT HAPPENING???

It's sick but it happens - and you can't blame even a good player with a semi decent read for chancing the K5 there. Bad beat that's all. Yes, I would be mad too.

How about flopping quad jacks only to loose to runner-runner Qs that made quad Qs. Oh well......

pretty slim odds of that happening, but as people have mentioned it happens and there's unfortunately not much you can do about it =( the only consolation i can give you is that you only invested time into the tournament instead of money...hurts alot more when you have to buy-in to the tournament. good luck in the future though and may you avoid the bad beats!

Has anyone on SC learned shove wrong and you're out. If he had AA, slow played, you would have been dead on the shove. You did not have the nuts.

2in 45 on turn and 1 in 44 on river so 22.5 x 44= 990 to 1

Sick beat. It truly is unreal what u have to put up with on line. I played a 10K game other day. Paid out to 20 people. I am in 18th with 60 people left, get AA in bb. Bet big and get out all limpers except 1 (he has 88) - FLop A 7 8, turn 3, push all in he calls, river: 8, hits his 1 outer quad 8 on river. One day it will come out that there has always been shady programming on these sites.

Dont get discouraged it happens in any game. We all have to take the bad beats in stride because they are coming!!

Yes, Irish Queen, pocket A's would have beat me but all in after flop, I knew he had K5 so K on turn & river was only way to lose.

Sorry to hear about your bad beat. It happens to me a lot also. You don't play for awhile and you want to maximize your results. You know you still have the great poker skills needed to go deep in the tourny. Your confidence level gets very high and then bam, a bad beat and you're out. My questions are, What were the blinds? What position where you in? How many chips did you have left? How many people at the table? Could you have folded the A,5 preflop?
