THINGS I HAVE LEARNED AT SPADECLUB!
By FireStonesOct 22, 09 11:49 PM

I have been a member since 2/12/2008 at first it was a bunch of poker players here and the fields were pretty good. The only members were players that read CardPlayer mag. That was good practice. The real challenge began in July of last year. Players got loose and the chips have been flying ever since. This has also helped me in my live tournament play. How you play against Maniac players. How some people just cant fold a draw no matter what. This will happen live not as much but you do come across some players like this. I have played in 16 live tournaments and have cashed in 12 of them this year. SpadeClub must have been good for my game. Tilt is not even in my game anymore. When someone sucks out on me live I ask them what their screen name is they get the message :). SpadeClub is a good place to learn and try new things. It has help my game and will help yours I am sure. Lets talk poker a few of us started a forum www.pokergods.lefora.com so we can all strive to be Poker Gods :)

SC great value. Great place to practice. Play with no real pressure. Good place to meet people with similar interests. Administratively, getting better, good effort improving games, buy ins, etc. But I feel you can only improve your game to a certain point. Two main reasons: easy acquisition of too many donk play chips makes you overvalue your own play, and highly abnormal boards. Way too many straights, flushes and sets. IE. Last night 1k, saw 6!!! sets in 12 hands...I could go on...
POKER is no differant than anything else in life u get out what u put in, i play 5 sites on a daily basis 2 them with u & your wife, i see all the bad beats all the whinning & alot bad players rewarded BUT what playing all these hands does for my live game can never be under estimated
Good stuff! Refreshing to hear players say they can learn more about the game here rather than whingeing about their bad beats. Sometimes the good players make mistakes and it is oh so easy to blame it on a donkey. GG guys, hope to see you at a table soon!
Thank You Randoman54 as you know I respect your game as well. Hope you will come to my Forum www.pokergods.lefora.com I will be leaving here Nov. 8th
Ya I miss the old days too when the fields were smaller and you knew most of the regulars.I can only play late at night now because of work.I haven't played a 500 or 1k tourney in months but I still enjoy the sit&goes and late night tourneys.
.
The one drawback is after umpiring 2 baseball games I am kinda tired and my concentration suffers. When u r tired you must adjust your game to be competitive. You never stop learning That's why it's hard to lose interest playing poker. at any level.
Firestones I have respected your game from the beginning.Your poker skillz are way above average.Unfortunately in any small stakes or sub sites the masses of players making bad decisions overwelms the solid players. One thing for sure defeat makes you stronger and all the imp[ossible suckouts we witness teaches us to deal with adversity>>and avoid the tilt monster.
.
Live poker is much easier to get good situational matchups because u can see & read the other players actions hand after hand.
although i dont do very good here i gotta say ive improved my live game quite a bit im used to winning money but now i win more bigger live tourneys so yeah in that respect does improve the live game
You said, "This will happen live not as much but you do come across some players like this." In my experience, it should read, "This will happen live "almost" as much because you do come across "many" players like this." And yes, I agree this is a very good inexpensive place to learn how to recogonize those players and how to (carefully) play them. GL and be careful at the tables.

Hey, Pauko nailed it (as always). Am very sorry to hear you're leaving - jeeez hate to see another one of the great old crowd moving on, but I sure do understand why and will likely follow you out the door soon enough. Why torture ourselves like this, when so many delicious little fish await in real life? Good luck, my friend, and to FirePebbles too.
