5 final table day
By GetItFastFeb 17, 08 05:34 AM

Well, I decided to put a ton of effort into the day on SpadeClub and it paid off in the form of five final tables. Unfortunately, that only translated into $40.
I finished 13th in the $1,000 freeroll, but made a big mistake 3-betting all in from the big blind against the small blind who had raised me three hands in a row. He insta-called me with a weak ace, which was surprising, and I didn't hit. I was getting a little short, but I could've picked a much better spot.
The best finish on the day for me was a 3rd place finish in the $200 freeroll. These two players just steamrolled the whole table and I found myself severely short-stacked three handed, despite taking out two players. Luckily, the blinds were short and I had some time to pick my spot. I chipped up without ever showing down a hand, which is exactly what I wanted to do, but then I ran into a cooler when the most aggressive player at the table woke up with AxKx against my AhJh. Despite the numerous suckouts on me all day, I failed to suckout myself and was bounced.
The other final tables were either points tournaments or freerolls that didn't pay the top nine and weren't too exciting. Tommorow I'll try to keep it going to take down the $1,500 for first place since I won a blue token the day I signed up, which was two days ago, I guess.
So far I haven't seen very many good players on the site, which I think is good and bad. Of course the benefits of the bad players are obvious, but I find myself altering my game because of it. Whereas, I'm normally more aggressive in the early to mid stages of a tournament, here I find myself "set-mining" only I have been "set-mining" with pretty much every hand imaginable. It's amazing how many chips these guys will give you with ace-high, let alone a decent hand.
That being said, I have seen three or four very good players. Players who will obviously have no problem making back their monthly subscription costs, and perhaps plus a little extra.
