SpadeClub Must Hate Me

I'm really getting into this badge thing. Even though the money means absolutely nothing to me, except of course if I win one of the big ones, I find myself wanting to win just so I can get those stupid badges.

I could easily devote more time to other poker sites and make much more money. But no matter how much I play and improve, and I will never be able to be a top-ranked player on those sites. Here, despite it just being a version of an online bar league, I have that opportunity. I guess this site is just great for my ego.

Of course, I made another final table today, and of course, I walked into the cooler to end all coolers. I had just busted the 10th and 9th place finishers at the final table, and when we combined I was sitting in about 5th place. Two hands later, I was in the big blind with 10-9 off. The monster chip leader limped and everyone folded to me and I checked my remaining stack of 42,000 or so. The flop came K-4-3 rag. I've given up on this hand before it even started, I'm out of position and up against the chip leader, so I check. He checks behind and the turn is a Jack. Okay, so I picked up four outs, but I'm not going to go crazy here, so I check again. He uses most of his time bank, and checks again. The river is a beautiful, or so I thought, Queen. Of course, I don't expect to get much action on a checked down hand, so I min-bet 4,000. He instantly reraises me all in for my last 38,000. I actually type in the chat box, "Wow, did I just walk into A-10 here, or did you just check down a set." Obviously, I'm not good enough to fold the second nuts in that spot and he showed me Ah10h. What a cooler.

$15 and some more points for my finish, but of course, not even first place money would've made me happy, I just want that stupid badge! I have, however, made back 1/3 of my yearly subscription costs in just two nights.

Oh, and Barry Shulman busted me in the $5k tourney. He sucked out when his pocket kings cracked my pocket jacks.
