i really think the loyal members whom have played with spadeclub for sometime now shouldnt be treated any less then anyone else.I do understand SC's motives but agree that they built SC with having a community in mind and they have a very good one.Hats off to the way they set it up to be more personal between the players but on the same token I have to agree on ''The right to know if the product is going to change''theory

Changes to SpadeClub, Why arent we informed???
By LanarianJul 02, 08 04:26 PM

Hi all,
I've been a member on here from day 1, and have asked repeatedly for SpadeClub to put up a page for letting us know about current and upcoming changes to the site/software...
They (obviously) have ignored my requests..
Now I'm gonna vent for a sec... The comments that follow are not intended as criticism or applause to changes that have been made. This post is strictly about the lack of communication.
I am an Exclusive Member of this site. As such I have paid for a product. Since I signed up on an Annual membership, I paid for one years worth of product...
I feel that this gives me certain rights... Rights such as:
Quality of product
Sameness of product (within reason, of course)
And finally, THE RIGHT TO KNOW IF THE PRODUCT IS GOING TO CHANGE!!
There have been a couple Major changes to spadeclub that went in effect this week.... WHY WERE WE NOT INFORMED?
Is it really so hard to put up a tab so we can see what is changing?
Supppose Starbucks decided not to sell any coffee with caffeine in it, and then decided not to tell anybody... would that be acceptable?
We have become accustomed to certain tourneys, and the payout structures that SC provides.... (yes, I'm talking about a specific change now) I will not say whether I like this change or not, but I will say that I am angry and disappointed that you took the liberty of making wide scale changes without having the decency to inform us first.
SpadeClub prides itself as a "Poker Community" Site (as it should), and we DO have an awesome community... it just seems that the powers that be who make the decisions have chosen NOT to be a part of this community. They do not seem to want out opinions, or our input, regarding changes to the Site, and as shown, they do not feel that we are "Worthy" of even being informed that things are changing....
Shame on you...

COMMENTS
I just sent an email asking why we were not notified prior to the changes. At least then we would have been aware that they were coming.
Spade Club originally gave the impression of being a "community". Why are we, the community, ignored when there are changes of this magnitude ? And I ask you ... a New Member can play in the upcoming Boot Camp tourneys ... but I can't ? and I have been a paid up yearly member from the beta days ...
I am insulted .. and mad. Where is their loyalty to the membership that built them ? Shame, shame, shame
Okay....I'm a little on the thick side...what happened? What changes have been made?
Great blog and some very insightful comments. I am in full accord with Lanarian. The site does not belong to us, but without us, it ceases to exist. Just from a practical business perspective, I would think that the executives of this site would want to at least appear to care. Evidently they do not care. I too paid for a years worth of product and right now I feel scammed. "Buyer beware' my grandfather would always warn me. This thing was (note past tense) a good thing. Now: just one of many.
Foldalot, next tourney your in (or just enter tourney lobbies), they changed all the pay tables... That seems to be what most people are upset about.. They also added Pot Limit Omaha, which a lot of folks consider a good thing. But still, woulda been nice to know it was coming
I mostly play the lower end stuff, and I did notice on July 1 they sliced the final positions points are awarded to by about 55% (i.e., before when you played in say $500 nightly, if you finished in top 99 you would get some points, now it's only top 45). It seems that the cash awards are still the same (for the daily cash games anyway [and I hope they would keep it this way or perhaps slightly expand it])....so I think they are trying to make it harder for the "marginal" players to earn points
...so in effect, you still get 200 points each day if you exhaust your supply, and one could play all the freerolls and say one $500 daily and then try one $5 qualifier....if you want to play in the $40k, you had better work up some points! This will (perhaps) seemingly thin the $5k and $40k fields out a little...

Symon
I must agree. I respect their rights to make changes at any time they see fit, but they darn sure could written a memo. I'm very disappointed.
