Sorry Legendkiller, but your making and inane comment. You obviously doesn't understand consistency in playing this game and how hard it is to do well over time. I think the changes to the SPOY system as described above is a huge improvement. This is a very strong suggestion and should be taken very seriously by the staff at Spade Club. I would implement this or something close to it as soon as is possible.

About SPOY ranking
By QuanticDec 21, 08 02:46 AM

I think for next year, or 2010, the ranking structure needs a revision, i think not only the players who reach the final table should be awarded with points for the ranking, i think points should be given on how deep into the tournament you finished.
I will give you an example to explain my self about this:
Let's compare two players who participated on 5 tournaments, Monthly $30k, Weekly $5k, Daily $500, $100 Daily turbo and a Point Builder II.
Player 1 finished with the following results: 37th, 12th, 7th, 10th and 21st, respectively in same order as the tournaments mentioned above.
Player 2 finished with the following results: 1,246th, 4th, 924th, 352nd and 103rd, respectively in same order as the tournaments mentioned above.
Player 2 got kicked out from most of the tourneys very fast, and had just one good tourney, the weekly $5k (4th place), this only tourney will give him a huge lead over Player 1 who was always flirting with the final table, but got only once in not a big Tourney.
I think that, is not fair that Player 2 is ranked in better position than Player 1, and this should be different.
The SPOY ranking should start giving points not only to final table players, but for lower finish position as well, always depending on how many players began the tournament.
It's my humble suggestion, and i hope it's taken in consideration for future changes to the SPOY ranking.-

I sent Kenny almost the very same suggestion...only difference is I proposed making the point distribution closer to the Card Player system. They give points out based on number of entrants...certain percetage of that gets points. So I defintely agree and your sugestion is just as good.
Great I would have the most fuqing points on this site then besides bub rubb.
So I am deffintaly for this.
I never said I didn't think his ideas were good. Actually, I do. I'm just wondering what the point is of saying, "hey look, I'm number 8". OK, great-what do you get for that? Is everyone's self esteem really that fragile?
By the way Jeff, I am sorry if I don't understand consistency. I've only been playing in Nevada casinos for 13 years now.
Legendkiller, the point in this blog is not to have a discussion whether who should deserve the number 7 spot, or who actually should be number 8, the point is that, how do we know if the actual #1 went deeper into tournaments than the actual #2?, MAYBE and just MAYBE if this system of ranking was a little closer of what I’m proposing, the best ranked in SPOY could be the 13th ranked right now, maybe #13th went deeper in most tourneys than the actual #1, but felt short of reaching more finals.
Believe me, i know what you mean, but hey, the best way to award someone is by implementing the fairest of all possible ranking methods. Imagine the #1 ranked player right now, wearing the shoes of “Player 2” on the example I gave in my post, would that make a difference to you now?
I hope this clears your mind about what I’m telling here, is obvious that in a different method, maybe the history written so far was a bit different.

I 2 suggested somkething like this to Kenney who said "only final tables". But, I always wander how many of those final table guys do well in most of their trnys vs. getting lucky to make 10% final tables. SPOY should include all trnys, and be limited to only trnys, that require a point buyin regardless of cash payout. Then, should consider #trnys entered, trny field size, and place finished.
I ask for little (not true). Points must be deducted for tourneys entered but failing to get points in them. Only way to speed up the game. Reward the behavior you want to foster. Play your best in the tournaments you enter and stop all inning and jumping to one of the other 4 Spade Club tournaments you're in. This would be kind to your server too. The number of hands per hour will significantly increase, thus shortening the time a tournament takes. Please make my New Years wish come true.
Legendkiller you are wrong. This is a sport, and a sport awards medals etc. Play in a casino and your medal is money. Play on Spade Club and your medal is a Spoy ranking. We just have to find a way to level the playing field between members who work, and those with a lot of free time.

Honestly, who cares what your "ranking" is unless you are #1. Nobody else gets anything but an inflated ego.
