Slow Play, or, Not to slow play, That is the question.
By RabidDogAug 08, 08 10:16 AM

A lot of times in the game, I see someone that continually raises pre-flop or during the hand, no matter what they have in their hands. If I call the bet, and have top pair or better (I have flopped F/H against them) I will usually check to see what they do. This instance I think is a good time to slow play something. If I flop a straight or Flush and a lot of people are in it, is another thing. I will usually go all in at that time. Pockets are a totally different thing. I will NEVER go all in pre-flop with ANY pockets unless I am forced to, which if they are a smaller pair, 10s or less. I will usually fold them.

I have noticed people slow playing and trapping which is a good move in brick and motor but have noticed that it is asking for trouble here a lot of times. I am not an excellent player but am trying to improve my game. As far as all in pre-flop I am guilty of it w/ overpairs (a,a -10,10) but after that pre-flop I usually will dump them and look for a better place to get my chips in the pot. Now when short stacked all bets are off depending on How Many Rounds Till I Go Broke and my position.

You will NEVER go all in preflop with ANY pockets?
Dude that means you wouldnt even with AA, KK, or QQ???? I am not a guy all for the all in ... but with a pair ... ANY pair ... your still racing with a slight adv. over an over pair such as AK, AQ, or AJ etc.
Just my 2c but sometimes (specially if I have them covered) I will do it in a heartbeat. Thats how you get that knockout bounty. Tons of short stacked players getting desperate will throw in with overcards. My 2c.
