(cont) Points tournaments must give out points on a % of entrants basis, not an arbitrary 27 places with fixed points. If you look at the hands played leader boards you will see people who are simultaneously in every game playing, about 20 hours per day. Pure luck means they will accumulate points, at your expense as they slow down all the games. Between the "all inners" and the "multi gamers" its tough for the average player to accumulate points.

Non Cash Tournament Payouts
By RanoeAug 17, 08 03:00 PM

I see that some players are able to pay into the Bellagio final with 27,000 points. How did they get so many points? Was it early on when there where few members and the points awarded were more then now? I believe that the way points are now awarded could be mdified so that there is a real chance to accumulate a lot of points for future entries. For example, perhaps having a number of different point buy in tournaments: 100, 200, 300, 400, and 500 points. In these tournaments the payouts would be comprised of 100% of the buyin. So if there were 100 players in the 300 point buyin, 30,000 points would be paid out with perhaps 10,000 going to first place. What do other players think about this? What does SC think about this?

New members are having a difficult and discouraging time. Because the number of players in a tournament is now so high, a points tournament can last easily 3 hours. This has created a "chip up" or "go out" playing strategy. Thus any 2 cards - all in!
In a PBII, cost is 50 points, positions 10-27 get 150 points. Net gain 100 points. Loss-2 to 3 hours time. There were so few people in the beginning that tournaments laasted 1 hour and 1 thru 99 got points.
