Weekly 5k

Earlier this year, I won my way into a WSP event qualifier. I did it through my local bar's free Texas NL games and earned enough points to get into the "big game." There are numerous bars in my area that participate and every 2 months, there s "championship" game. It was a live game with 157 players. The winner would get a $1500 buy-in to a WSOP event along with airfare, lodging etc.

After over 11 hours of play, it was down to me and one other guy. Before even the first hand of "heads-up," the tournament director asked which bar I earned most of my points at. After I told them, I was immediately disqualified. I was told that particular bar did not participate in the food drive. After explaining to them that not only did I have nothing to do with this, I even played at other bars bringing a total of 8 cans of food, I was still told I was disqualified.

A couple months ago, I finally settled with them for $1000. The entire episode has left a sour taste in my mouth all this time but after winning the weekly 5K, I consider myself fully recovered!

I did bar poker. Found its a chrony game with a lot of drunk people and people pretending to be drunk. Tough crowd. Spade Club is a lot more fun. Congrats on your win.

Gratz on your win and I too have played the local bar's Texas Hold'em ... 1st place woohoo a whopping $50 and 2nd a bucket of beers. Most of the folks in there blitzed before the cards start flying and then of course they will give you $1000 more chips for each beer or other drink you buy during the first round of play. So TONS of rebuys.

The first night I went there were 48 people playing .... final table was only 90 mins into the play. I was sitting 2nd in chips with 9 left and caught J10
