I Shall Pass This Way but Once
By TYRANT777Jun 05, 09 03:10 PM

This is a poem I read years ago. I would like share it with you
I hope you are moved by it , over the years I often remind myself of these words
I have to live with myself, and so
I want to be fit for myself to know.
I don't want to stand at the setting sun,
And hate myself for the things I've done.
I shall pass through this world but once.
Any good, therefore, that I can do or any kindness
that I can show to any human being, let me do it now.
Let me not defer nor neglect it, for I shall not pass this
way again.

"Live long and prosper." ;)
Ok a real one or two ... "Life is without meaning. You bring the meaning to it. The meaning of life is whatever you ascribe it to be. Being alive is the meaning."
"What each must seek in his life never was on land or sea. It is something out of his own unique potentiality for experience, something that never has been and never could have been experienced by anyone else."
I love the fact that a tough guy can also feel. this poem reminds me to feel the joy i want to feel all the time by enjoying every moment. I soooo love what you quoted too Ipoker, love Gandhi and all the wisdom he has shared
Here's a line from a poem I wrote several years age while going through some tough times;
Mindful Notions of Tabula Rasa (The mind before it receives the impressions gained from experience)
I Seek Truths that Protect Ambiversion (The balance between introversion and extoversion)
An Unprejudiced Regeneration that Cultivates My Soul
QUIET DAYS ARE SPECIAL BECAUSE...THEY ALLOW US TO BE RENEWED AND REFRESHED WITHIN...TO SEE MORE CLEARLY WHERE WE ARE GOING...BY ALLOWING US TIME TO UNDERSTAND WHERE WE HAVE BEEN...
THE CANVAS OF TIME...ARE THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS WE'VE EXPERIENCED GREAT N' SMALL...THAT WERE ONCE JUST THE SEEDS PLANTED IN OUR MINDS...
THROUGHOUT THE DAY...THE TIDES OF LIFE RISE N' FALL.. AS THEY ROLL INTO THE SHORE...LEAVING THEIR IMPRINT UPON THE SANDS OF OUR HEARTS..

"We Hopis have lots of songs about water because it's so rare and precious in the desert. I notice that your people sing about love all the time. Is it because it's so rare for your people?"
Anthony, a truly beautiful poem. Thank you so much for sharing it with all of us. I try to live by those sentiments daily. You have encouraged me to continue, even in adversity.

Better to have regrets for the things done, than regrets for the things not done
