I'm sorry.

This is hard to say my friends (or not friends), but I have not been a good person lately. I hope you can forgive me for my transgressions. What follows is an apology to those I've insulted and not an excuse, but an explanation.

Yes, I have insulted people. For this, I humbly beg your forginess. What I can say is that I'm starting to... well, lose it. I'm 54 now. I am a network and server engineer. I was also the Data Center Manager for a majpr state agency. I am currently the Systems Administrator for a major transportaton agency.

I have been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. It is currently unilateral, which means only one hand is currently exibiting the usual tremor.although my left hand is starting to exhibit some twitches during moments of relaxation.

Pretty bad, right? No.

I have started to have short term memory loss. I used to be so good at tech support that when I was the Lead Support Engineer for Creative Labs, I did not have to even look at a manual or support document. I would take the hardest casts from the support personnel and just rattle off what the customer was seeing and then fix the problem. That was about 25 years ago.

Now... I have a hard time telling the difference between a spade and a club. I get irritable because I feel so damned useless. Last week I was sitting at my desk and could not remember what I was working on. This week I was working on a SQL server and had to get a team member to help me fix a problem that I could have fixed 20 years ago. I just could not remember the sequence of actions necessary to correct the problem.

Please forgive me. I care for the rest of the human race. I honestly do. I have a sense of honor that rivals that of King Arthur and Sir Galahad. I have tainted that honor lately and can only hope for your forgivness.

I want to say we've played here, but am uncertain. First, saddened to hear of the Park. U'll be in my prayers. I 'catch' on memory loss. Am 51 and am told most 'will probably' come back in time. Ha and huh, I say. I make decisions that I have no recollection of. Here I have been ridiculed, to discover I have no memory of hand sequence, so now I write them all down. It is scary. FWIW, I changed the cards to colors, which helps a ton with spade v club. My son recently told me I used to be

...a worthy opponent. YIKES!! KILLER words!! But, it is what it is; if we continually strive to achieve only our best, then honor is realized. GL, and I hope to remember u when next we play! HA!!

Hi,I too have had a major life change recently with when i was partially paralyzed by a drunk driver, the name Xanax comes from the fact that of all the meds I amon,I have a liquid Morphine Pump sewn into my spine,I take Oxycodones & 90 xanax's,with the occassional Valium when the spasms are really out of control,so because of all the Meds and still living in pain,I just had surgery#23 last week,my memory and mood swings are a constant struggle,I also use the color deck to help, the note taker too

You clearly ARE a man of honor - you certainly haven't lost that to your new life circumstance.Only someone of great integrity, generosity and compassion would have posted this. I can't pretend to understand Parkinson's disease, but I have had a series of huge life-altering circumstances that have sent me into a tailspin, things I am still reeling from the effects of, and will forever. It's a crazy thing when life takes sudden and unexpected turns.

You question everything, and your feelings take a long time to stabilize. It's hard to know which is what, what to do, how exactly to face it. It sure does make you somehow much more of who you really are. You're so honest, sharing something like this with us, with so many people you don't even know. I really, really respect you for that. My prayers are with you, for strength, for wisdom, wherever the road might take you, and for the support and love of those closest to you to keep you.

I know how you feel about the computer issue. I'm 50 years in computers and I've always been dyslexic. I have great logic ability, but almost no ablity to remember where to put the comma, or basic arithmetic. Nor can I remember numbers. There is a trick tho. Use the colored deck, and forget how good your memory was. Play based on the math, and a sense of the table. Don't get note crazy. Just play each hand as it comes.
Park, like diabetes causes personality problems. Just remember what you do a

(cont) remember your reaction in poker, is the same as your reaction to your family. Work on the frustration. Focus on the good years, not the bad years. Most people never had the fun we did. So, don't live in the past. Enjoy today, and what you can do. Tomorrow is whatever it is. Above all, shower your family with love and affection. They have their problems too.

I'm very sorry about your health issues and can certainly understand how this is affecting your responses to situations and people. I very much appreciate you reaching out to me after our little "encounter" yesterday and making things right. I'm looking forward to playing another game with you - I'm sure it will be a lot more fun for both of us.......... Take care.

Wow..don't know you however I can relate big time. So happy you are here. Poker is great brain therapy and this site is wonderful friend therapy. Although on the tables, I firmly believe Poker means never having to say you're sorry regarding play heheh, so nice of you to offer apologies to others for something other than play. What a onederful life filled with onederful human beans eh?

A real man admits when hes wrong and not afraid to say hes sorry. In my book you fit the bill. God bless and hang in there. As forgiveness goes, you need to go further upstairs.
