Just when you think you've had enough....................................

So after I spend three weeks cursing my luck, the bad play of others and almost decide to throw in the towel here at SC and return to playing cash at PS & FT, I go on an unbelievable run.
I have always enjoyed the concept here at Spade Club ever since the Beta phase but got to feeling sorry for myself. I ended up last year's SPOY at 330. A position that puts me in the top 3% of the site but leaves me wanting more.
In December, I had and incredible hot streak at the Casinos here in Vegas . Two days before Christmas, I get my year end bonus check from work and decide to gamble a bit. Bought in $1K to some $25 BJ at the Orleans and run it up to 13K!!. Bought my 16 year old a new car for Christmas!!. Go to Caesar's Palace Christmas Eve and buy into $125 NLHE tourney at noon.
Second hand, AA cracked by 6d7d.....RATS! So I go to the BJ table to try my luck again, buy in for $300...run it up to 5K. That's not the lucky part though...........about halfway through the session a beautiful girl sits next to me and we begin to chat. I had been up & down up until she sat down. Once she sat down, I hit everything I played, 16...5, 12 hit 9, double 11 dealer breaks...very hot streak. Anyways, she asks me if I want to go get some dinner to which I eagerly accept. Turns out she's a 29 year old dancer (no not that kind, she works the Rio show) just moved to Vegas from Miami and hasn't been out since she got here. She was Xmas shopping when she decided to play her last $100 at the tables. Long story short, we've been dating since Xmas eve so life is getting better.
HOWEVER, as luck runs my poker game has been suffering until I have to take my daughter (the one with the new car) to the DMV to get her license. Since I knew the lines would be long, I dug out my Full Tilt Tournament Strategy book for some reading. As luck would have it we are there for 6 hours which gives me a cover to cover read. The kid flunks her test for speeding!! (She's a mess upset and crying) I tell her no big deal, take the test over next week.
So flash forward to the following Tuesday, back at DMV same drill. This time I take Harrington on Hold Em. There about 4 hours and she passes this time (GO RENO!!) This is where it gets good. I believe that because I dusted off those books and gave em a re-read I've managed to find a huge leak in my game (I'm not going to disclose for you sharks) and my results have dramatically improved. Since Tuesday I've won the 1K Thursday, 1 Red Token, 2 Blue Tokens, A Bellagio weekly and 2 membership tourneys.
Those results managed to catapult me from SPOY 998 to 42nd in just a short week. I know I've bounced around quite a bit in this blog but the main point is that by pluggin the leak , my results have been great. By revisiting a few fundamental strategies I have made 14 of 22 FT.
So if any of you are experiencing some bad results, dust off those poker books, give em a re-read, revisit strategy articles in Cardplayer, and apply the strategies that work best for your game. Reading helps to solidify your fundamentals and gets you back to your A game. I'm doing a Supersystem reread now and plan on breaking into the top 25 by next month.

The closest casino to where I live is 130 miles away. So I play at sports bars, etc. It is legal to tip the dealer to play a free game and you can win something small like 25 bucks, its better than nothing, well almost. So a very pretty girl sits down next to me, she gets real friendly and then asked if I have ever paid for it, I pondered for a moment and said no I charge but my rates are reasonable. Needless to say she moved to another location, so you did well with the girl at your table.
