the irony about sports gambling is that there are alot of people out there who can pick 60+ percent winners over the long haul. whats really sad is that probably less than 5% of those successful handicappers dont make money. the reason is SIMPLE yet complicated. you mentioned it, but i doubt most people know it. MONEY MANAGEMENT. NEVER, bet more than 5% of your bankroll on any one game, NEVER bet on parlays, and use the MAGIC of compound (interest) to maximize your growth. 3 rules to $$$$$

Its official, I know nothing about football!
By digadeeSep 21, 09 03:17 AM

WOW, what a day of football that was! Advice to all or any who read the crap I have written the past few days, if I say I like a game, bet the opposite and make money! I had a horrible showing in the football pools but thankfully in the games I picked for more* than bragging rights weren’t quite as bad. Denver did well for me and the Ravens but early in the day and this is the point of this blog which I think ties into poker, at least for me. I was so distraught after the Pats game and sad that I lost not only a little legal tender, alright, A LOT and my left testicle I was on a football tilt and in a desperate mood/way so I doubled my bet on the Ravens game which worked out nicely, ah…there was hope yet but still on tilt, took that and let it all ride on The Giants and with my track record of the day of very poor results, didn’t have much faith but it worked out!
I want to say Chil was right on the Saints game, he called that one and I was wrong on that one man, way off, I really thought defense would prevail. And Randoman my friend, brother I can not get that post you made out of my head, if it is too good to be true, it probably is! Talking about the Pats game that I was so sure of, nice call man…I will openly admit that I was heavy on this game from the start but had a bad feeling when I heard Welker wasn’t playing, didn’t like that all but I am not going to mention much about that game (those freakin pugs) I knew there was a reason I hated boston, they just played horrible and the jets did look good but they still could of gotten beat, I mean how about once out of the 189 times in the red zone you give us a touchdown and not a field goal you nimrods?????????????????????????????? And what great play calling, running on third downs, draws, little slants, ah I am done with you! You don’t even get another mention in my blog except for the promise that I am hoping brady’s and the entire coaching staffs animals get diarrhea and have left them all a nice surprise in their homes when they get back from that pitiful showing and tomorrow, all of their cars have flat tires from disgruntled mistress’ who leave them a note, hey…you now have gonorrhea!
So, alright…now that my little rant is over and breathing normal again, back to the pertinent information. Take Denvers, Ravens and the Giants money which helped my mood tremendously and have now placed it all on Miami to get back to the positive and forget all about this Sunday’s games. I know that only suckers and amateurs try to double up on a Monday night game to make up for losses but I really think the Fins come through for me. I have liked this game from the start (doesn’t that sound familiar…cringing) but I do and I am letting it all ride, I am either sailing into the mystic with this game and looking forward to the following weeks of action or going down with the ship! I play cards the same way, the best players on here know when to make good folds, Rando, Sadd, Dan, Mirek, Chil, Marcazz and a ton others are so much better than I for that simple fact, patient, conservative, playing the odds, percentages, discipline and a slew of other nice qualities elude me at this present time. But you know, I don’t mind following my gut, I get a feeling and I stick with it. That mindset has made me rich and broke over the years countless times and I guess until enough is enough and want a little more stability and consistency out of my results I will be the same and simply exist til I perish. I guess by pressing it all on this MN game, its kind of like playing kings against aces but, I have a feeling!
For a compulsive individual and who is not in denial about who or what he is, I guess the action* is sometimes more of a high for me than the actual money. I know to be a professional gambler, it’s supposed to be ALL about the money, nothing else matters, no ego and manage your bankroll intelligently only putting your money in when you have the best of it regardless of your game of choice! I like letting it all ride and actually have goose bumps about tomorrow, I can’t even convey my excitement! I know I wont be able to sleep but man, I have to say…I love it!
Here’s to a great Monday night game and another week of online poker after the cash games, good luck to all of my friends and hope life is treating you all well!
