I Used To Be Nice..........
By emilysmomJan 18, 09 08:54 AM

Lately I have been thinking how much things have changed here at SC. You know, I can honestly say that I used to be really nice to everyone and hardly ever tilt. But lately the temperant of many people on the felt has been downright rude. My fear is that I actually somewhat stoop to their level. It has been hard not to call out the donks that play ATC's and sometimes it gets the better of me. Even worse, when you play your game right and get called a donk because the other player doesn't know their pot odds. I guess sometimes when you lose you don't always think about those things or if maybe just maybe you are wrong and didn't try to think the hand through. I am guilty of that too. I guess we all do it. My point is that there really is no reason to be this way. I used to think that "it's poker" was the ultimate donk statement and no reason to call with 72 os. But all in all I guess that is why we play and some of us are braver and take more chances. On the internet some people believe that it's either get ahead fast or get out. I can actually see some insight to this theory. And it does work for some, because I look at their stats and they are good, so they must be doing something right. Last night for instance my AA was cracked by 56 os to a HUGE preflop raise followed by an all in after the flop (in which other player only had a straight draw). I don't mention names because I refuse to stoop to that level. There were no pot odds even to call the preflop raise, it was only two of us in. But I suppose that AA cannot always win, I know that. (but I would much rather lose to a little better hand). BUT my point is I am making a late New Year's resolution. That is to be nice to everyone again, no matter how much they donk because that is only their image on the felt. It's easy to forget, especially online, that these are real people and they have a personality and feelings. They could be one of the nicest people you ever meet, so who cares how they play their poker game. It is after all, just that....a game.

Be nice to others, but play mean poker! You have always been the best at that. You are one of the classiest and best players on here! GL tonight in the 5K!! :)
Tru turning chat off for a week, the risk of being dismissive to friends is worth not tilting. I need to take my own advice, can't stay off the dang chat box either!
I dont bother saying anything to anyone if they make a bad play. Taking a beat is part of the game! Be happy with your decisions you make (its the only thing you can control) and thats it. If you continue to make good decisions you are playing good poker. The people who talk bad about others play make me laugh. I play live 1-3NL ring games and tourny's at my local casino and have seen some horrendous beats live too.
AA isnt a guarantee win, they are going to lose 20% of the time.

I agree with Sooner, but there are A FEW players on SC that are downright rude and abusive (see my blog "Mad..."). Chat is there for players to enjoy each others play and company. It's a shame that a few make us choose to turn off chat just to avoid putting up with bad manners.
Learn to have fun with the critics. Say tu every time they make a comment. ??? also is good. Drives them nuts, and I become no fun to bully. I've seen some go on tilt over tu,tu,tu.
I want u all to be nice till its time to not be nice, dont just donk, become a donk instructor
Im a bitch, Im a bitch
Oh the bitch is back
Stone cold sober as a matter of fact
I can bitch, I can bitch
`cause Im better than you
Its the way that I move
The things that I do
.
Oh Oh Oh
well to be honest with you, I like having a ton of players when I have AA or KK preflop because then you get chips to push around or your out. that's how I look at it...loose
i find it alot different playing on this site than actually playing in cash games or laying out money to get in a tournament. playing for points changes the way you play the game for most people. True, you can win money here, but with the small amount that we put up you will see alot of loose play.
