Just Another Blog On SPOY

I am trying to figure out why there is so much controversy regarding SPOY. Personally, I think that it was a great idea and a good move by SC to begin the competition. It gives some a little more incentive and a goal to work towards. Yet something that is supposed to be harmless and fun is creating blog wars and pretty childish actions. It makes me wonder why the peole that constantly blog about how bad it is, and how they don't care about it, just cannot seem to stop talking about it! If it's not important to you, then why waste your breath? Who cares about where the "real" players are, we are playing at SpadeClub the same place that YOU have purchased a subscription at and are playing. I just love the comments that suggest that anyone that plays at a subscription site is not a serious or solid player.

On that note I am going to get a bit personal to make a point. I live in a very rural area with my husband and three children. It's a nice community but by no means a rich area and we live on a very tight budget. I live an hour and a half from the nearest casino. I love to play live but with three children and a limited budget, I rarely get the opportunity to do that anymore. I love poker. It's almost an extension of me, it's part of who I am. The minute I learned the game it felt like it was in my blood. Maybe it sounds dramatic, or perhaps some of you understand exactly what I mean. For the past six years poker has been a big part of my life and I have worked hard to improve and learn. I would love the chance to take it to the next level but given domestic and geographic obstacles, that opportunity lies somewhere far in the future. In the meantime, Spadeclub has satisfied my poker needs and is giving me the opportunity to grow and learn. Since I joined Spadeclub I have also felt confident enough to play more at Full Tilt and Bodog. I have gotten into many large tournaments through freerolls or small satellites, which is not always an easy feat. I cannot afford. I managed to build a small but decent online bankroll with minimal funding out of my pocket. It's a start.

I might not be in the top 20 for SPOY and I doubt I will finish even in the top 100 because I don't have as much time to play as I would like. But it's fun to set a goal for myself and satisfying when I meet that goal. What is so wrong with that? Maybe not everyone wants to be a pro, or maybe not everyone has the opportunity to even try. If I had the time, you bet I would care more and I would be right there with those fighting for a spot in the top. I'm not saying I could get there, but I would sure be trying!

My point is, not everyone here cares that they are not playing at the final table of the WSOP. Not everyone minds that they are not on Cardplayer's POY list. I have met some great, and very solid players here at SpadeClub. I would not be surprised to see some of them go on and become pros. But that's not the case for all of us. Being a subscription site, many are playing for bragging rights. And as long as they are not putting you down, let them brag! They worked for it, and it means something to them. Why is it so important for some people to step all over that and tear it down? If it means so little to you, why even bother with it? Why not just ignore the whole thing.

So for those poor sports that consider SC players a blip on their radar, a minute being that is inferior to them, why not just leave? You are, after all playing at the very place you consider to be "amateur." Since there is obviously no one at this site that can meet your standards, no one that knows a thing about poker. You are, OBVIOUSLY, the only one who could possibly know anything worth even knowing about this game. I just hope you decide to go somewhere else and know it.

I couldn't have said it any better!! I only play on this site for pass time when I have the time. When someone sucks out on me I don't get mad and curse them. I leave the table immediately if I'm upset about it or congrat them then leave. Afterall it's just a game. I also believe that a winner not only wins for the money or trophy but also for bragging rights!! BRAG ON WINNERS YOU DESERVE IT

Em, GWL complains about SPOY because it is a hot topic that gets him attention. I doubt he rarely cares about it. If he was not acting like an ass over this issue, I assure you he would find something else. This action is typical of people who have no power and control in their own lives and finally find some kind of forum to try and demonstrate their "superiority". I find him to be an inconsequential little man myself. As long as you are having fun here, don't let anyone ruin it for you.

Has it gotten better ....Yes

It's like anything else someone will always find a way to get over on it, but for the most part the good players will stand out. You can only play by the rules set here by SC and if you don't like their rules play some
