the push & pray players dont last very long in tournaments and they play hold'em as well, i cant see the reason to push preflop with Aces they can be beat so ez post, 2 pair , the game is to hard for the fishsticks to grasp

OBSERVATIONS ON JEOPARDIZING PUSHES
By flapjacksAug 11, 09 04:51 PM

Lately I have been watching some very risky plays in the Omaha games. It is easy to spot inexperienced players. So often I see huge bets(preflop) where players are putting 1/2, to 1/3, to all, of their chips at risk before any cards are turned. Yes, aces may warrant a play like that, but why not see the cards first? Obviously players who make plays like this don't realize Omaha is a DRAWING game. I would prefer to have 4 cards that are working together in some way to consider a call when confronted with a move like that. There aren't many players who have read up on Omaha. Omaha makes you a better player in all games when you are constantly making multiple hand possibility reads. Knowing what the nut hand is, or will be when another card is turned, is so important. Here are a few great books I have in my collection: CHAMPIONSHIP OMAHA by T.J.Cloutier & Tom McEvoy, FARHA ON OMAHA by Sam Farha, OMAHA HIGH-LOW by Shane Smith, POT-LIMIT OMAHA by Jeff Hwang. Get into the inner workings of the Omaha games. They are action-packed and make you a better player.

the reason to raise aaxx preflop in plo is to get the hand down to heads up but it never works until very late in the game (at least here).always get 5 callers early. your 60% winner pre is now 25% with 5 players 8910j double suited would be a favorite over aaxx and pre vs 5.
Farha on Omaha is a great book.I have all the others also.Sam Farha was our 1st guest on our poker radio show we used to have.He was on 3 or 4 times. He let me table him at bellagio 5 dia main event. He is the real deal --

The problem here esp early in tourneys is that the bingoheads destroy you high % hands just by there #'s alone. No book can help u only the RNG which I think has swore a secret oath to help the helpless.
Just stay out of the bingo donks way early on unless you can get in very cheap with a very strong hand. It's pretty disheartening when you fold top set on a draw heavy board to discover that lunatic beats moron with 2nd pair against bottom pair at the river. As for AAxx, in the mid game 9 times out of 10 a preflop raise is a big big tell - they might as well just shout out "look I've got aces" - call them with a big coordinated hand and you will know exactly where you are on the flop.
NIce blog! I agree 100%. I limp with big pocket pairs in omaha because they are hard to improve
Regardless of how you play the first several levels, the end game strategy in these things is always push and pray.Like Joe said the only purpose of a raise is to isolate, and to control the pot size depending on the strengh of your draws. Don't get too optimistic with two pairs and sets, your opponents will make thier straight and flushes much more often than you will fill up. Then they will scoop up the nice big pot you built for them. Hand selection and strategy go right out the window here..
All to often here one or two total waste of space donks will be max raising preflop and potting every street. Unfortunatley this is really the rule rather than the exception here, and good players are forced to pick a hand preflop and hold on tight. These hands usually contain AA in some form, so that is really the reasoning behind those "jeopardizing pushes" you speak of. It's the lesser of two poker evils, if no one is using PLO strategy then that strategy just isn't going to work out here.

I agree, I have seen a lot of aggression at the omaha games on here. What I have found funnier is how these same people pushing with AA in their hand, continue to push even when it hasn't been improved. The early stages of the Omaha tourney's on here are definately a Bingo game, raises with 6 callers constantly.
