It is purely anecdotal, but it sure seems like when you fail to play a hand that would have eliminated a guy, that same guy later cripples you.
Kind of in the area of "superstition is bad luck", I know, but still it sure seeeeeems like it happens alot.

congrats to double D for taking down the 500 lastnight, and you're welcome. it is amazing how things work out. late in the tourney, down to 15 players or so, blinds 4k/8k, i'm about avg with about 95k. double D is short with about 43k and shoves. i pick up QJ offsuit. normally this is an instafold but i actually hesitated. I was thinking mid-pair in which case it's a race and maybe worth a shot to try to take somebody out & chip up. But I decided to play it safe and not risk almost half my stack on QJ when there are quite a few hands crushing me, as well as a couple people still to act after me. so i fold, DD shows 88. ok, good laydown I guess. then the flop - 8-9-10. $)@#()(!)$*@#($!@*$)@$
he wouldn't have filled up & i'd have busted him. sure enough, he took a big pot off me when i open-raised w/A7, he called then shoved on me on a 10JQ flop & showed 10J after i folded. few hands later I'm short, shove w/A10, he calls with... QJ! Jack on the river & i'm done in 12th. of course then he went on to win the tourney.
amazing, he makes 2 pretty marginal/questionable calls against me (I know everybody loves everything sooooted especially broadway cards, but on FT bubble against a pretty tight player? very loose IMO) and blows me out of the tourney, after I lay down the same hand he busted me with
i know i probably made the right laydown but it doesnt make me feel much better about it.
