I've become convinced of something...
By joerevs300Jul 15, 09 08:22 PM

Since this seems to happen at all online poker sites, I think they all have 2 things in common. They either:
a) automatically favor a specific player, no matter what cards are dealt
or
b) automaticaly pick what the winning hand will be no matter what the starting hand rank is when all 5 cards have come out.
#1, this explains how certain players can play and win 10 hands in a row no matter what 2 cards they are playing because of how the flop/turn/river come out
#2, this also explains how you can have a K-K, J-J, A-6 all in and the A-6 hits 4 running cards to make a flush even though it's 10-15% to win against those two hands.
In live games that burn cards, these kinds of things are almost non-existant and players that call with those kinds of hands are routinely beaten. In online poker, they are the constant winners, which only encourages more bad play (and more money for Vegas regulars and professional/semi-professional poker players).
If someone can tell me a poker site online where these things don't occur, I'll show you the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
I'm starting to think I'd be better off taking $20 a month and buying 20 shares of a $1 stock then to see these kinds of things continue. No matter what "assurance" emails I receive from Spade Club which points me to the websites they use for security and randomness, there's got to be a computer programmer or mathematician out there that can take away starting hands that are 10-15% to win preflop from winning over 50% of the time.
Maybe I'm just having a really, really bad week or something, because I did have some early success. Maybe it's just one of those ebb and flow things, and why it's so hard to be in the SPOY race. But I think what it is ultimately is I am trying to make money for my family, so I take this a lot more seriously then if it was just a hobby of mine. I've almost become convinced that no matter how good a pro is, he's going to get taken down by the factors I mentioned about quite often.

I agree with you. The winning hand is predetermined before the flop. Players call with any 2 cards because there is no loss of real money to them. It is so bizarre to have a board which is four to a straight and four to a flush beating your top pocket pairs after you have gone all in pre flop. Bad players and bad plays get rewarded so much that it has become a form of positive reinforcement. I am no longer serious about internet poker. The only real winners are the owners of the Spade Club. P
