Leaving SC, it was fun while it lasted
By joerevs300Jul 24, 09 06:58 PM

After getting into an exclusive membership for a $1 trial, I was really impressed with SC the first 2 weeks I played. My conservative style was rewarded, I won the hands I should win, and I managed to cash twice. The minute I took my withdrawal, I started losing 9 out of 10 races (whether or not I was the favorite or the underdog), and losing to 2 outers almost 8 out of 10 times (these are not just fluff numbers; I actually wrote down the situations, the tournaments they happened in, position, etc.).
I have come to the conclusion that all online sites (Full Tilt, Poker Stars, Ultimate Bet, Absolute Poker, etc) operate the same way, in fact, they share the same CERBUS system when it comes to gameplay.
And then there is the question of fair play. Almost all the other major sites for online poker have a major bot problem. In 2007, two very well know pros barely defeated a texas hold em "bot". In fact, if you do a Google search for it and click on the most popular link, it will literally tell you what sites to play at, and how to set your computer system up. These bots have made players thousands of dollars over other human players who didn't know they were not playing another human. It is my suscpicion, based on betting patterns I have experienced here at SC, that people are using bots on this site as well.
The bottom line is this: The only pure Texas Hold Em experience you are going to get is to play in a live, reputable tourament like the WPT or the WSOP. Where there is no cheating, where you can watch the dealer shuffle, where cards are burned off. Otherwise you are risking a great deal for little return, and in reality you could be losing a lot more.
I will miss the couple of friends I made during my time, and I might pop in during some of the freerolls but I think I'll focus my attention more on golf and less on online poker, which is a trap.
