That's a tough play being first to act. Had you checked the flop, no doubt he would have checked behind you, setting the trap. You didn't say what suits the cards were so I don't know if his calls could have represented him chasing a flush draw or not. You had a tough hand to get away from, especially after you made the boat on the turn, but with him calling your bet of 2x the pot on the flop and close to pot size bet on the turn, alarms should have been going off in your head!! :)

Atlantic City WSOP Circuit Event Blunder
By nmbnancyMar 12, 08 10:16 PM

I had previously written about the fabulous experience I had in Atlantic City. I felt I played well and I know I enjoyed it. I had one blunder hand, it didn't take me out just hurt my ego. I know many of you will know EXACTLY what my opponent had for hole cards, but obviously I didn't have a clue!
Newer player to the table, he seemed to be playing very loose and aggressive. Blinds are $ 400- $800. I'm the small blind, he's the big blind. Everyone folds up to me, I have A-4 off suit, so I call $ 400. He checks and we see a flop. K-4-K. I'm not too excited about a pair of 4's, I figure he has Q something (don't ask me where I got that brillant info from?). I decide to bet $ 2400 and see what he does. He calls. HMMMM The turn comes K. Now I've got a full house kIngs and fours. I'm not feeling too confident, but bet $ 5000. He calls again. Now I'm thinking he has a pair of Queens and has me beat. The river comes Ace ---Yeah now I've got a much stronger full house. Now I bet $7500, trying to reel him in.He calls, I reeled him in.
I proudly turn over my ACE.
He slowly turns over his KING. Believe me I never saw it coming. I can laugh now and I know you all are laughing with me not at me.
