Team play on internet poker sites

I was at a local casino playing with a couple of guys who are reputed to be some of the better players in the area. I mentioned this site and told them how much I liked it. Immediately they both responded "don't trust internet poker sites", They went on to explain how groups of players who can belong to the same club can team up if they can get in the same room and email each other their hands and other pertinent information...is that really possible...how likely is it that on a site with this many members guys can actually hook with someone they know and cheat like that...anybody else heard of this?

Last year on ESPN they highlighed one of the young and upcoming players. He had rented a house in Vegas for 6 weeks during the wsop. He had about 6-8 people sharing the house with him. ESPN took thier cameras to the house and scanned around. On a large table sat about 6 lap tops and 6 guys playing poker online. Who knows what info was being shared.

Most definitely there is collusion at the standard sites. IS there collusion here? I'm not seeing it yet. I doubt the payout structure makes it worth the while to manipulate the play yet. But, give it time, it will come.

If it involves money someone will find a way to gain an edge to get the money. Been that way since money was invented.

I know people that have done it. If they happen to land at the same table - they call each other. My wife and I sit in the same room and often end up at the same table, but we take great care not to share information. Unfortunately, most people don't have those kind of ethics.

PART 2
colluding go by an hourly or daily rate to split. It would take way to long here to realize a profit based on playing time/hr. The sad part is, it is really hard to spot or catch collusion. How can you prove it?
Anyway, Noburros-I hope this helps.

Dr check, in answer to your question for tourneys, no. But in live games is where you find lots of collusion. I knew a guy who sat at his house with his buddies all on lap tops and they used to "work" 10-10 NL games. They made thousands a month. He even asked me if I wanted part of the action-I said no and said that I like to play straight up. With that said, I would find it hard to believe that there is much collusion on this site, for the time invested-there isn't much money in it. Most people

I think that would be a bigger problem in the higher stakes cash games. The weekly and monthly tournaments here would be the only ones worth going to that much trouble for.

it is possible..........
rare and unlikely but possible.........
what has to happen is that the "randomness" falls in your favor and you end up at the same table with a friend/accomplice.......
I used to do it playing spades on yahoo with my brother......
that was a little different because u signed into a game as partners......
I guess in a sit and go or if 2 people make it to a final table the opportunity for collusion is always present....
see you at the tables

Yes, is it called collusion. Very little is being done to stop it online and in live games. The entire poker industry will decline as word spreads. Bots, or programs are also used online as players. Even multiple colluding bots/programs are used. Many sites have their own bots. They claim they are used to keep games going, but they can easily be programmed to win within the software. This site is at risk like any other.

Is it possible to choose the table you are seated at in one of these thourneys, cause they would have to be seated at te same table.
