Why am I seeing so much of this??

I am running into so much of this type play in the point builders and blue ticket tournaments lately.

Early in a point builder, blinds 30/60; I have limped in on 1 hand, and folded when I missed.

I am on the big blind, KK, 4 limpers, make a pot size bet 270, 2 callers. Flop comes down 6 high, straight draw, no flush draw. I bet 600 into a 800 pot, both call. At this point I am thinking that they have overpairs to the board. The next card comes down could give a straight, but not a A rag straight, so I am not too concerned about the straight. I push the rest of my chips in about 450, both call.

The guy under the gun is playing QQ (didn't surprise me), the other guy, in early position, is playing J 6 suited, there is not a single card on the board with his suit. Of course the river dropped a J out and away the Q's and K's go.

I immediately turn off the computer, and think wow, must mean this is bed time, lol. Not that this doesnt happen on the other sites that I play, but damn I keep running into this a lot in these point builders.

Dont get me wrong I know we need the donks to increase our chip stacks, but damn it could they stop hitting the river please!!!

you describe the bad beat (aka, "the poker gods", "that's poker" or my personal favorite, "$#&* !@%"). Basically, it is why we call it "odds" instead of "certainty". I disagree that the answer is to only play the nuts -- this is a prescription for a slow death at the table and extreme boredom. That being said, there is a real strategic challenge in dealing with the "forture seekers" in a tournament is the result that Chilly described -- you are out in the early stages. ok this will make you feel better ok.......I play so much by the of my day playing I have absorbed anywhere from 5 to 15 sometimes 20 on bad day WORST bad beats you can ever see like one to 3 outers to runner runner or the ol' 2% to win on flop and catch miracle to send me to the fridge for another beer and wonder why god hates me......not point builders either cash so feel better?

i run into the same thing on fulltilt $1 sng's.lucky maniacs w/not much to loose.believe me sc isn't half as bad.

LOL, I was just inspired to write a blog about that very thing (please read and let me know what you think) I too have been seeing a lot of this and it does make it hard to handle especially when they suck out or make a retarded move and get rewarded for it! RRRRRrrrrrrr but that is the pt builders for you, hopefully we wont be seeing too much of that in the bigger tournys, good luck to you and best of wishes...hang in there, we'll outlast the donks!

It's freeroll mentality and I don't think it will ever go away on a site like this where people have no more than $20 month invested. The only thing you can do is take it into consideration for your play and not pull your hair out when it happens over and over and over. The only other thing I have found helpfull is to basically play nothing but aces and kings till 1/2 the field is gone (but be prepared to fold the kings).
