My birthday bash
.
Wow my 1st day on this planet as a 55 yr old.Funny I don't feel any older.My birthday present to my self is to play poker all day.
There is a tourney at noon at gold coast $45 limited to 20 with alt the 1st 2 rounds of blinds.

. I had to do some shopping in the morn and got there a little late.There were only 13 entries payin 2 places and I decide it is not worth it so I sign up for 2/4.
.
No game yet so I have a little time to kill.
.
Mon is gimmick day at gold coast get 250 pts on your players card and get a free buffet.I am meeting a couple of close friends at the buffet at 7pm to help celebrate my b-day so of course I take the challenge to get those free buffets.
.
Video poker is the easiest way to get those pts.You get so many J's or better 2 pair etc sometimes you can rack up a boatload of pts for very little money.

I have had astounding success doing this in the past.

I play the same machine when I do this.I stick a 20 in put my card in and it say Happy birthday!!!! and suddenly I have $25 in free slot dollars woo hoo.I cash out the 20 and play my free 25
.
I( play the 25 off and have 21.25 left not bad>>(no pts on free play)
'. I lose the 25 and only have 87pts to show>>bummer

UNDAUNTED I stick a 20 in the mach and play some more but again I fall short with 192pts.

UNDAUNTED I put 10 more in there and on the 4th or 5th spin I get dealt quad aces for $100 payoff.happy birthday to me.Get my 250pts and then put my friends card in and get 250 pts for her also.

I also have a $70 profit for the whole kit and kabootle!! Nice country America!!I will get another buffet off my poker comp and we will all eat for free!!

Shortly after the poker room anounces the 2/4 game is starting and away we go.

The table is filled with 7 regulars and one guy from the UK in the 4 seat.I get seat #3 one of my favs.

The game is on the tight side with 3 or 4 players seeing the flop.

Mpos 66 three limpers flop is 3c 6d Ac(set) texture str +flush draw.

I have big plans for this hand and bet out.With this board you CAN'T give a free card a club or 2 or 7 spells trouble.I need someone to have an ace here. Bummer both players fold and I make $5 on the hand.

10h 2c 5d (wow two pairs dealt two sets.I can check this flop 43 is the only non gut shot draw hand.Ray leads out and 3 of see the turn.

3c Jd 2s 3s( trips good kicker) Jimmy wad leads I raise and tuna makes it 12 to go huh?Tuna is a decent player but he loves to raise on the turn with a big draw or what he believes is the best hand wad balks but folds and I after about 3 secs call.(Don't tell me A3) riv is

3c Jd 2s 3s 9s( run run flushboard) I check tuna bets and I instacall. He say you didn't catch the flush did you? He flips over 43 off.No i said but my kicker is better and flip over my K3.

After 30 mins I am 35 ahead and looking forward to a great day of cards.

Unfortunately the cards had different ideas.

The texture of this flop very dangerous if you match up the players in the hand
seat #4.UK only raised twice so far QQ AKss
seat #6 Tuna loves to raise turn and bet and raise draws
seat #9.Jimmy wad --tight and doesn't chase much

I already know this pot will be HUGE if UK has an ace (not AA please) and tuna gets a piece.I play poker for hands like these

You have to look at the texture of this flop and not at your set of 9's
6s 9s Ac>>any 2 spades 87 are dangerous

Tuna checks wad bets into the raiser (must have A) I call and UK also calls but Tuna check raises and we all call.
1.UK AK AQ KK QQ
2.Tuna spade draw 87 108ss 107ss I will look right at him when the turn card hits the felt.
3. wad has to be AK
turn is 6s 9s Ac 10s(rats)spades get there 87 gets there
Tuna looks away as soon as the 10s hits the turn and leans forward with a deadpan look on his face he quickly says check.I know he hit his hand and judging by the way he looked away it is spades!! I will not take my eyes off of tuna the rest of the hand

Tuna checks and EVERYONE checks behind( I tap the table looking at tuna)he leans in some more staring at the deck of cards in the dealers hands.(man do I need the board to pair)
. The river is 6s 9s Ac 10s 2s tuna leans back an his face looks like he just found out his dog died.

UK leads out (wtf) and is met by the words raise by tuna.
wad folds &I fold( can't fight city hall)
UK freezes looks at the board and 3 bets>>tuna disgusted now fling 6 chips into the pot.
Wind up is
UK AA with the As wins with 4 flush
Tuna KQSS had flush needed Js for high hand str flush
Wad said he had 2 pair

Tuna blows a gasket after UK flips his As over and realizes that he got rivered in this pot.
. UK is happier than a pig in a pile of shit
I am lucky the board didn't pair I lose prob $24 more with 9's full

That hand really juiced me up but also put me on tilt.Even though i am writing down ever flop i see I piss away $50 limping in with marginal hands out of position trying to catch a flop
After 30 flops i am down 20
After 42 flops i am down 67
After 50 flops i amd down 92

UNDAUNTED I ask the cardroom mgr for another rack and hand him a Ben Franklin and put 5 more stacks of 20 chips on the table.

10s 8s 6s (flop3rd nut flush flush) I check wad leads out I call ant calls and 3 see the turn

10s 8s 6s 7d(whew no spade) i check wad leads out agin and i check raise and wad calmly calls and the ant calls 8 cold
river 10s 8s 6s 7d 2c brick city I bet 4 and the ant and wad call wind up

This hand took the wind out of my sails

I did not win another hand the rest of the session
36 flops of nothing.

With 8 chips left I get AA raise and on a flop of 5 5 9 get my last 4 chips in

I am beside my self and disgusted.I really need to vent but my friends show up for my birthday buffet dinner.

I put on the happiest face I could conjour ,got a poker comp buffet dinner to go along with the two I had.The 3 of us went down and had a lovely dinner.I made a super salad with a big bowl of onions and beets on the side.Shrimp in melted butter Salmon stuffed pepper veggies and some terriaki chicken

My poker day ended up a flop(pun intended)
.
I feel really dejected and frankly deserved a better fate than i got.
I pay attention and work hard on becoming a better poker player.How can I not make money in a game where I am making better decision than the other players?
