Sometimes You're Just Curious

Unfortunately I am always working when the nightly 500's are scheduled so late at night is the only time I can play. That's ok with me poker is poker and it's a great time to learn about the players at your table.
.
Geting a read on players and hands is something I enjoy doing at the poker table. It seems impossible at first but with practice you will be surprized how well u can do.
.
I try to put some notes on players esp early bingoheads.any A any suited, no pos, no tex(meaning texture of the flop is ignored by that player) ATM .These players u better not try to bluff for no matter how scary the board is ANY piece of it is good enough to call off all their chips.
.
I am playin in this tourney when this hand comes up.150/300 blinds ante 25.Eight players at our table.
.
My stack is a little over 5k and my opponent has about 4500
.
I pick up JJ in the small blind everyone folds to the button who limps in.I make it 900 to go BB folds, button calls so we r heads up.
.
I put him on Arag or any 2 suited cards with his limp. When he called I figured A rag or high suited connector. He just won the last pot(2300) with 106sh (2pair K's & 6's).He plays alot of hands and is willing to call off alot of chips with an any piece of the board.
.
So I have JJ heads up >>flop 9c 7c 5d not too bad for me so far
texture 86 is str >>>flush draw clubs>>with all kinds of gut shot middle card draws.
.
I bet out 1200 and he just calls.
.
I rule out A9 because I believe he would shove with A9 K9 Q9 J9 109 98 97 so I believe he has 2 clubs >A7>>K7>.K5s or A5s or off.
.
TURN is 9c 7c 5d 9h pairs the board (good for me).I already ruled out that he has a 9 so with 1 card to come I think I need to dodge a club >(8) (I have one).A (3)>7(2)> or 5(2).That's (15) cards out of 44 That could possibly beat me 1 out of 3 so I really don't want to shove my remaining 3800+ until I see the river.
.
He will never go away if I do anyway. He is pot stuck already.

.
I make a 900 information bet.If I am wrong with my read and he has 86 or a 9 he will shove for sure.
.
He just calls.OK time to play dodge the river. If I could ever learn how to dodge the river my poker skillz would vastly improve.
.
RIVER is 9c 7c 5d 9h 6c probably the worst card that can fall for me.Flush gets there any 8 makes str.
.
My hand just turned into a piece of rotten cheeze.I know I am beat but there is alot of chips in that pot.I am not just going to give up.
.
I make what looks like a value bet 900 this leaves me with 2900+ in my stack. If he has A7 A5 K7 K5 that card could scare him more than me.If he shoves i could lay the hand down and still have 10BB left to play with.
.
He shoves his remaining chips in so fast I thought he beat me into the pot. I am about to fold when this little guy appears on my shoulder and screams in my ear"AREN'T YOU JUST A TAD BIT CURIOUS ON WHAT THIS GUY WAS CHASING YOU WITH?"
.
Well to tell you the truth i was more than curious, come on I am risking nothing in this meaningless tourney so I make the call.
.
I say out loud (like I always do) before the hole cards are revealed.Doing this really helps your card reading skillz.
.
"A5sc" is what i say as the cards are turned over.
.
9c 7c 5d 9h 6c >>>>he turns over 4c 3h for an ass end gut shot striaght. on the river and wins an 11k pot. HUH???? ???/?
4 3off ??????
.

. I just refuse to believe it so I cut and paste it for furthur study later.I still have 615 chips left(2BB).If u know me I NEVER give up no matter how bleak.I get moved to another table, great flying blind.
.
I double up with AK vs A2 and then flop a set of 10's hang on and win a big pot. Before I know it I wind up on the final table but short on chips.
.
The chip leader is (you guessed it) Mr 43 himself.I bust out in 7th place and watch mr 43 just destroy the rest of the table. He could do no wrong if he tried. When the cards were turned up at the end of the hand.,no matter what he had it was the winner.
.
He made it look so easy.
.
I really thought writing this blog would help clear my head but to tell you the truth I am more confused than ever.
.
Any comments good or bad would be greatly appreciated

Just a good example of freeroll poker. Chasing with crap, or misreading your hand of 2 overs and hoping and praying he has 3, 4 and 6 for outs. LOL I have a high percentage of losing to hope and pray poker.

BTW, thanks for all the comments and keeping me in your loop.

Rando, I think you are guilty of the same thing as I often am, overanalyzing a game which is not played in the style in which you are used to. Your analysis is GREAT, if your opponent was playing logically, which, as you already know, is often not the case when nothing is at risk. I have asked myself "how is it possible to put someone on a hand, or even a range of hands, when someone has no idea what they are doing?" (cont)

In my extremely humbe opinion, it is beneficial to play more straightforward on this site and save the second and third level thinking to the casinos. I will overbet my hands that I believe are ahead and make any draws pay dearly, or check extremely strong hands and let someone hang themselves, depending on their previous play. In order to even consider any kind of advanced moves, I try to ensure that the player(s) involved are good enough to understand the situation at hand, (cont)

which, quite honestly, are few and far between. I think there are probably 100-200 really good players here, whether they play the game recreationally or as a small part of their overall play, and your live strategies and third level play should be reserved when involved with them. Until someone proves to me otherwise, I am treating them like dead money and adjusting my play accordingly here. Just another donks opinion lol- hope u got something out of it. LK OUT.

Very nice blog. Once in the hand, I think you played it as well as you could and not much to say about 34 chasing and then hitting, I mean there is no need. And you are by far a better player than I so not sure how much this means but, from the small blind I would have raised it more to weed out any suited hands or ace rag but even then you never know on here. But after the flop, if you push, do you think he calls chasing risking his tourney on the low end of the str8?
