The good doc is right as usual. Bounty chasers are easy to exploit too.

Hands Played vs. Bounties Ratio opinion needed
By riskeeeDec 19, 08 11:58 PM

Hello again guys I am asking for your help again. I am trying to better my game and give myself a goal to shoot for so I would like your opinion what is a good ratio for hands played vs. bounties.
I have around 17,800 hands and 600 bounties. I've been keeping One Final Table per 1000 hands played and feel that is a realistic goal. So please give me your input it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys and gals for the great games, good luck see ya at the tables.

I did a study some time back of the top 50 Final Table Appearance folks and how many nads per bounty the averaged. Guess what I found? The range was from the mid 20's to the 60's. The scatter of the distribution was virtually random as well. What this means is no correlation in Bounties (read aggressiveness) to Final Tables or Wins. Oddly enough, I have kept track of min average the entire run here at SC. It has been consistently between 39.9 & 42.2; says I play a consistent game... usually. ;)
There is no REAL ratio for this, but its really on how your style of play is. A player with over 1k in bounties & only have around 20k hands played is considered a donkey aggressive or a get in & win or get out & lose player(these types usually have a low hands played /f.t. ratio), But in my opinion a solid player will a have close 1k/hands played & 50k hands played/1k bounty. Anyone else agree with my study????

I completely disagree with DrCheckRaise. I believe anyone 20:1 hand to bounty is a total donk. WAY TOO AGGRESSIVE IN THE LONG RUN. You can't measure this until someone has played several thousand hands AT LEAST. But it says alot about the player u r up against. I have decided on call or fold when someone is all in preflop based solely on this statistic. Your AJ or AQ might be good against that 20:1 player while the player at 35:1 or more is a much MUCH biGGER threat. I'm right on this one

Bounties are a useless statistic. You could knock every single person out of a tourney and collect a bounty because they only had 10 chips when you busted them, but it gets you nothing. A bounty here does not get you one cent.... so what would be the point of being the least bit concerned about whether or not you knocked anyone out other than the second place player to give you first? Hands played/Final table ratio is useful information, Final tables/wins is useful information as well
