Hey buddy, good luck at the Venetian...

Granted, because of your skill and knowledge, your reasoning behind playing any of those hands, more than likely, gave you the advantage but not a guarantee that you would win. So, luck did play a part in your victory. I just somehow have to find a way to convince you of that. Thx for the comment. You are helping this old man keep his brain working.

I love a good debate! Lets talk about this live tournament you refered to. On the road to your victory you had to have won many hands. I'm quite confident in saying that you did not win all of those hands with either a royal or the nuts. So, therfore, the majority or even all of those hands could have been lost had the flip of a card gone the other way. So, in fact, you were lucky that it didn't. continued on next post.

Totally agree. I met Greg 2 years ago in August when he was at the Winstar casino in Oklahoma for the annual (Red) River tournament. He was extremely gracious and spoke with me for a few minutes while waiting to help MC for the tourney. I think most people completely underrate his poker skill. Wonderful quote.

Enjoyed your comments on David's blog, about skill vs. luck in poker.

Post me your e-mail (will keep private) Tried to post private comment to your DS blog but I don't think it went through.

I think we will see Moon, Shulman and Ivey in the final three. Moon doesn't seem willing to just give away his big stack and Shulman and Ivey are leagues above the ability in the final nine.

Yeh, that's what I thought you meant. I'm sure if the same field played the same tourney 1000 times, Moon would probably not make another final table and Ivet would make several, but this takes nothing away from Moon's game. He deserves it, as did Jamie Gold. Moon might win it, but I doubt it. Ivey of course has a chance if he doubles up. Akenhead likewise will have a shot if he doubles - and the break might do him good - he has a history of blowing up on final tables but he's still young.

How can you call Darvin Moon a luckbox...he's played extremely well and I haven't seen him call from behind once. He even smooth called AA and when 2 9's hit the board he slowed down and took a minimum chips loss. That and he's a trapper. I've seen him check the winner to naked agression several times. Sorry dude...just not seeing "Luckbox" in his play.

Cheers! What some people don't seem to grasp is that draw A vs made hand B can actually be a bigger favorite than made hand C is against made hand D.If it's ok to bet C against D then betting A against B is a no brainer in the right spot. Good luck in the 5k today!
