SpadeClub Player of the Year
SpadeClub Player of the Year ranks all Exclusive members based on their play through out the year. The 2008 SpadeClub Player of the Year will receive an all expenses paid trip for two on a 7-night Card Player Cruise. The SPOY grand-prize package includes up to $1,000 for travel expenses, a cabin for two on a Card Player Cruise to the Western Caribbean or Mexico, aboard Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and all port charges, taxes, and pre-paid gratuities. All Card Player Cruises feature a professional staffed poker room, lessons by Linda Johnson, cash games and tournaments as well as all the amenities you’d expect from a Royal Caribbean Cruise.
The 2008 SpadeClub Player of the Year (SPOY) ranks are currently being calculated as they are retroactive to the launch of SpadeClub in February.
2008 SpadeClub Player of the Year Scoring Criteria
All tournaments that award cash and/or points count towards SPOY rankings.
There are three criteria when calculating points:
- Place finished at the final table
- Prize Pool
- Number of entrants
Total points are calculated by multiplying the point factors of the three criteria:
Place finished: first place receives 120 points; second place, 100; third place, 80; fourth place, 60; fifth place, 50; sixth place, 40; seventh place, 30; eighth place, 20; ninth place, 10.
Prize Pool: Point Builders = 1 point, $20-$99 = 2 points, $100-$499 = 3 points, $500-$999 = 4 points, $1,000-$5,000 = 5 points, $40,000 = 6 points.
Number of entrants: 1-299 = 1 point, 300-599 = 2 points, 600-999 = 3 points, 1,000-2,999 = 4 points, 3000 and more = 5 points.
Here is a hypothetical total point calculation example: You finished in eighth place in the $500 Nightly I that had 450 entrants. You receive 20 points for eighth place; the prize pool is $500, which is a 4-point event; and there are 450 entrants, which is good for 2 points. Thus, you receive 160 total points (20 x 4 x 2 = 160).
Place finished: first place receives 120 points; second place, 100; third place, 80; fourth place, 60; fifth place, 50; sixth place, 40; seventh place, 30; eighth place, 20; ninth place, 10.
